If you haven’t already noticed, the more bugs you select to be on screen at any given time (bug abundance) the more points you get for each bug you eat correctly. If you’ve had problems getting to higher levels, and you haven’t increased the number of bugs beyond the default setting (an intermediate bug abundance), try boosting the number of bugs. You’ll find - if you can keep up - that your score increases a lot faster and you can get to higher levels of game play.
For those of you with slower computers, make sure you take advantage of the new Bullfrog games’ feature allowing you to resize bugs. If you shrink the bug size down, you can still play in a large window with less of a game slowdown due to a lot of big shapes for the CPU to animate.
If the game is fast, but you haven’t allotted the memory to run in a full screen window, don’t be satisfied with running in less than a full screen window. Give the application more memory!
Hint for Bullfrog Math III: If you want to configure the game for practicing multiplication tables of a range of numbers, set the ranges for the first and second terms accordingly in the dialog for making new bugs (equations) available from the Options menu. For example, to practice your multiplication tables of 7 times a single digit number 0 through 9, set the range of the first term to 7 and the second term to 0 through 9. To do this just set the minimum value for the first term to 7, the maximum value for the first term to 7 also, and likewise the minimum and maximum values of the second term to 0 and 9 respectively. If you are running the game with less than ten frogs, you’ll see part of the full multiplication table of 7 as your frog values. If you’re at a high level, or started the game with ten frogs then you’ll be quizzed on the whole multiplication table at each level. If all this sounds confusing, just try it - it’s really very simple!
Hint for Bullfrog Chemistry I: Start the game with the maximum number of frogs, and you can drill on all of the ions starting from the very first level.
